Disillusioned, Lapsed, but still-seeking Living a life that is not just the 9-5 but one having some regular quality time for us and ours is difficult. We might get to the gym and spend time with family but often there is no time for our inner life. Whether we are spiritual or religious or neither we know that some part of us is “seeking” something greater than just the stuff of the outer world – what we buy and get and achieve. A Journey As a child of 5 onward, I used to look around at the congregation during the larger recital points – like The Lord’s Prayer or the Creed – and gazing into the faces of strangers, my child’s mind wondered: do people mean each word or are they like my pet parrot – just making a sound? Are they “paying attention” – as my piano teacher constantly reminded me. Are some of them here at all? What’s in a name? Everything! Everything can be in a name. Our name is The Word Travels. Our name contains our mission: We are created to serve: “a despairing world as messengers of Hope” (God of Hope – Donald Coggan) through our helping people “Come and See” and them allowing The Word to travel deeper into their hearts Our name contains its cause: both Christ and His teachings.
